Wax on the coating not only improves the sliding properties on snow, but also protects it from drying out and contamination during storage over the summer months in the basement. If the surface is not adequately protected over the summer, it will lose sliding ability and longevity over time.
That’s exactly why you should still show some love for your cross-country skis in the summer and take proper care of them before putting them into storage. How this works, we explain step by step.
- Brush out dirt coarsely with metal brush
- Clean the base with base cleaner and allow to dry for 10 min.
- Brush out with metal brush until the coating is rich black
- iron on a covering wax layer as protection (e.g. RACING-LF)
- alternatively, if there is no iron, rub a soft wax on the coating
- if possible store upright in a cool, dry place
It’s actually quite simple, isn’t it? If you have any questions, we are always happy to help you personally.
