Wax on the coating not only improves the sliding properties on snow, but also protects it from drying out and contamination during storage over the summer months in the basement. If the surface is not adequately protected over the summer, it will lose sliding ability and longevity over time.
That’s exactly why you should properly care for a ski not only during the winter months, but also before storing it in the summer. We will tell you how to do this step by step.
- Brush out dirt coarsely with metal brush
- Clean the coating with coating cleaner and allow to flash off for 10 min.
- Brush out with metal brush until the coating is black
- remove rust from the edge by grinding if necessary
- iron on a covering protective wax layer (e.g. RACING-LF)
- should not have an iron, simply rub a soft wax on the coating
- then remove the wax from the edge
- treat the trigger mechanism of the bond with oil
- if possible store upright in a cool, dry place
Actually, everything is quite simple. If you have any further questions, we are happy to help you personally.
